Coromandel Outdoor Language Centre

The Coromandel Outdoor Language Centre is a small school, with a very friendly and familiar atmosphere. What I like the most from COLC is that students learn English while they are having fun. In my opinion, the best way to learn a language. In fact, its slogan is “Learning by doing”. The school is placed in an exceptional area: the Coromandel Peninsula (where there are some interesting and must-see places like Hot Water Beach and Cathedral Cove), and specifically Whitianga, a small, coastal and beautiful town. The school searches a place to live to all the students during their stay in Whitianga. In my view, I would recommend a host family because students can keep learning English even when they are at home, and it is important to say that all my colleagues from school were very happy with their host families. All the teachers have a lot of experience teaching English, and they are all very friendly. Finally, I want to stand out that the activities offered by the school are unbeatable: surfing, fishing, bone carving, archery, etc. Definitely, it is an amazing and unforgettable experience that everybody can enjoy.

COLC is an exceptional language school surrounded by the most beautiful nature in New Zealand. The way the school teaches English - 'learning by doing' - really works and makes this school really worth mentioning. During my stay there, there was always a great mixture of different nationalities in every classroom, which made learning more interesting, fun and challenging. Also, the staff was like a family: always ready to help, listen and available when needed. It really is true what they say about Kiwi hospitality. I got a lot of new friends from all over the world in such a short period of time and I'm thankful for that. COLC made such a great impact on me - not only it brushed up my English skills but also taught me a great deal of life and myself. My dream is to go back there someday.

If someone would ask me: „what makes the school so special? “, I couldn’t answer it in one sentence. This little inconspicuous things makes a place to a wonderful and special place. And the COLC is one of this places. This school taught me to learn English in a different way, in a funnier way, in a sociable way and in a way who makes you feel comfortable. But the main way to learn English in this school is “learning by doing”, and this is the best way to remember the things you learned. They have a lot of amazing activities and awesome weekend trips who are also helping you to get in contact with other students. The students here are from many different cultures and the goal to learn English is connecting us. That’s one of the best things, you are not just learning a another language, you also get know to other cultures and different ways to live. We are all sitting in the same boat and we help each other that we can reach our target together.

I have been at the COLC for 1 month and enjoyed the family like atmosphere. Everybody made me feel comfortable and helped wherever they could. Activity Programm organized by the school is great fun, and you get to know NZ`s culture and nature. Along the way I have made good friends wich I still am in contact with. Its I beautiful place to slow down and learn new things. Has been the greatest experience of my life!

I enjoyed this school more than I expected it would. The location is beautiful. Teachers care of you like family. You can learn English as full of nature, many activities and friendly people. I highly recommend this school to the people who lives in a big city or who is pressed for time. You will enjoy plenty of time in nature and never get bored! The best thing I have got from school is FRIENDS from many different countries!
