Box Hill Institute

Started with Box Hill in 2011 after completing Year 12. Upon completing my Cert II in Electrotechnology, I was encouraged to keep my schooling at BHI. That was the wrong decision to make! Since 2011, there has been a steady decline in the services & education being given at this institute. Administration staff of this particular electrical department are extremely unhelpful and often give attitude where it is not needed. Phone calls not answered, phone messages not returned and emails not responded to! The only way to get some kind of action is to physically go down to the campus and demand to speak to someone. Even then, the process is hard, painful and extremely time consuming. After experiencing studies at other training organizations and comparing the level of professionalism, help and resources I definitely would not return here for future studies nor would I be sending my future apprentices to Box Hill Institute. A severe shake up needs to be done, regarding one particular member of the Electrical departments front desk who is rude, arrogant and extremely lazy. The amount of time I have had to leave work early or get to work late in order to sort of basic issues with Box Hill is ridiculous. Admin staff are the worst part of Box Hill's electrical department and rubbish people skills. As for the teaching, there are few teachers willing to go above and beyond to help a student. Many are there for their paychecks and couldn't be bothered getting to know their students on a personal level and making a strong connection. Hopefully employers and future apprentices read this and decide not to send their people here, because its not worth anyone's time! Seeking training from other organizations would highly recommended!!

Absolutely loved my time at the Elgar Campus. Made plenty of great friends, while obtaining my diploma. Teachers really went above and beyond for us, they probably were the best thing about Box Hill. I just landed my first job, so I guess it has done what it was meant to. My only complaint would be parking cost, but if you get public transport its no problem.
